Do or Make

Do and Make have similar meanings but there are differences, that's why they are often confused.

Do: to explress daily activities or jobs (activities that don't use physical objects)
  • do momework
  • do housework
  • do the ironing
  • do a job
Do: general ideas. When speaking about things in general (used with the words something, nothing, anything, everything, etc.)

  • I'm not doing anything
  • she is doing something for her mother
Expressions with DO:  Collocations

  • do your best
  • do good
  • do a favour
  • do business
MAKE

Make: to express activities for constructing, building or creating

  • make a food
  • ake a cup of tea
  • make a mess

  • make an exception

  • make a decision
  • make a noise
  • make an effort
